Rollin on Chrome

Andrew ‘Böki‘ Őrsi

2022.03.04-04.01.

Böki’s style is characterized by his bold use of dynamic forms composed of eroding, mechanic, and organic elements, as well as the use of mixed techniques. When working on walls, he prefers the more special locations. His drawings integrate organically into the visual composition of crumbling industrial facilities, which capture the transiency of life – his letters appear almost as if they have been “aging” with their surroundings from the beginning.

What’s distinctive of Böki's works is the use of chrome and black colours: by transferring this colour combination, which is mainly a trait of “street bombing” drawings, to the stretched canvas with a homogeneous surface, the artist has the opportunity to create especially elaborate, detailed works of art. The moderate usage of colour also provides a kind of framework – just as it inspires the artist to a wider technical and formal creativity while enabling him to push his own boundaries.

The ‘Rollin on Chrome’ exhibition consisted of such, recently created artworks. The letters depicted on the canvases are inclined into the abstract motifs and visually harmonize with them. These characters evoke intense associations in their admirers due to their expressive mode of representation.
